Our speaker for October will be Ahmad Abu-Heiba, who will be discussing the “State of the Art in Magnetocaloric Air Conditioning.”

Ahmad Abu-Heiba is part of the R&D Associate Staff with the Building Equipment Research Group (BERG) of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Building Technologies and Integration Center. Ahmad Abu-Heiba graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2008 with an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering working on Solar Hybrid Lighting. In 2009, Ahmad joined Team Consulting, which later became IntelliChoice Energy. For the following 6 years, Ahmad worked on the development and commercialization of gas engine driven integrated heat pumps and micro-CHPs. In 2015, Ahmad joined BERG as a Post Master Research Associate. For the following 18 months, Ahmad worked mainly on the then newly invented Ground Level Integrated Diverse Energy Storage (GLIDES). In August 2016, Ahmad became an R&D Associate Staff with BERG. His active research includes gas fired integrated heat pumps, magnetocaloric refrigeration and micro pumped energy storage.
